Love in the time of Cholera

I’ve seen this book and its beautiful book covers display in local bookstores for quite some time now, and i am very tempted to read it. But I am not one who reads a lot, and books cost quite a lot where I come from,

Yesterday, by chance, i came across its DvD in the store, and immediately bought it as I wanted to know what the story is about and also theres my favourite actor, one Javier Bardem staring in the movie, so I watched it last night.

Now, I just look up this book on wikipedia and found that it is suppose to have been written by theis nobel prize writer.

The story is quite dumb …. at least how the movie portray it, I cannot tell what has Cholera got to do with the whole plot. The most interesting thing in the whole movie was it letter writing, and yet, it wasn’t highlighted, and I find in the whole movie the best story told, was when he write love letters to both the boy side and then the girl came and he reply to his own love letters for her.

I also failed to see how this man who lived with his mom, who cry the whole day, who refused to work, even when the mother beg relatives to give him work, he choose to stay in the mothers house until she die… ROFL does someone like this deserved to be love by a beautful woman or anyone at all? I think Fermina made the right choice, sort of. Maybe the book is written better. Oh, and what with this “self-psycho-therapy” of sleeping with hundreds of women suppose to be, like … blah

so who has watched or read the book?? what was your thoughts?

The Triplets of Belleville

This is an animation in the form of silent movies that was release in the year 2003. Lovely songs and dance, wonderfully and cleverly animated, combining both hand drawn and computer generated animation. It is also the first animation that got a PG18 ratings. What drawn me to this animation was its songs, way back in late 2002, on its official webpage.

Got my hands on a DvD of this feature couple of weeks ago, it is well worth the wait and money spent. It reveals to me as I watched with delights, not only was its songs and dance captivating, the story is filled with action and suspense, unlike any other animated features that show “beautiful, perfect, cute and cuddly” main characters. They are fill with almost “life like” characters, that can only be done by careful observation of the human behaviours. The animators/directors have given live by making them have their own little weird habits, may it be a little hand gesture or a flip of the hair, a nudge of the glasses, that otherwise is overlooked by the common eyes.

So I watched Forbidden Kingdom Last Night …. the regret ….

According to ratings given by its users on Internet Movie Database (imdb) it scores a whopping 7+ stars over 10 which I personally think is way to much, because I just click the 1 star button. Why did I click the one star button?

1) they butcher a well told story and demoted it to shit.
2) they only needed jet lee
2.1) jackie chan’s character is not even necessary in the story line. lol

The original story of the monkey king is a classic Chinese Literature that has been around and well loved by all Chinese for many many years, we are talking decades, only to become a farce in today’s Hollywood. Tsk Tsk Tsk the shame and irony that its being ruined by a Chinese actor.

It is like, Harry Potter meet Merlin, let see, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark meet James Bond, Samson and Delilah meet the Barber Shop

For instance:
King Arthur is in danger of getting kill, Merlin help using his magic but NO he fail and POP COMES Harry Potter with his wand and bands of unruly kid wizards, or Hamlet’s father assassinated and he hire James Bone to find the killer and some how on the way to revenge Hamlet fell in love with Gwyneviere.

Forbidden Kingdom is so bad, bad bad bad! please avoid watching at all cost.
